About bestagent.dev

bestagent.dev is an independent review site for AI coding agents and developer tools. We write reviews from the perspective of working engineers — because that's what we are.

What we do

We pick AI coding tools that working developers actually adopt, use them for real engineering work across multiple codebases, and publish honest reviews based on what we find. We also build and maintain open-source tools of our own:

We use the same tools we review, every working day.

Editorial policy

We want our reviews to be trustworthy. To that end:

  1. Every tool we recommend has been used for at least 30 days of actual work. Not demos, not "I read the docs" — actual production code.
  2. We do not accept paid placements. Companies cannot pay to be included or moved up our rankings. Period.
  3. We disclose affiliate links. Where a vendor offers an affiliate / partner program, we use those links and disclose at the bottom of every review. Commissions never influence ranking — we rank on merit and disclose for transparency.
  4. We disclose conflicts. When we cover one of our own products, we call it out explicitly and link to alternatives.
  5. We update reviews as products change. Each post shows last-updated date. If a tool you depend on changes materially, we'll note it.

Methodology

For comparison reviews, we run identical engineering tasks across each tool and track: success on first try, follow-ups needed, dollar cost. We never re-run failed tasks to cherry-pick winners. We share methodology details on request.
